On thursday October 7, 2010 the Bolivian president Evo Morales apologized for what has now been called the "Soccer foul seen around the world". A knee to the groin to a player on the team opposite of him was caught on tape and became a lot more viral than hoped for by President Morales. The man he kneed in the groin Gustavo Daniel Cartagena aparantley kicked the president down and kicked him while he was on the ground. "Again, I ask for forgiveness. Sport is integration, but later I realized it was a trap," Morales said. The incident happened in game between a team put together by Morales and a squad of city workers from La Paz, the capital of Bolivia. The "trap" as it was called by President Morales happened early in the game thats how he knew it was intentional. When you look at this story you wonder what this guy was thinking. Why would a President or anyone of that high of stature do what he did? Did he think no one would remember? This is not the first big political embaressment in history, but it is memorable because of the unsportsmanship of this President. President Morales did apologize for his actions, but it will forever haunt him politicaly. It will be held over his head in elections to come. I think people need to realize no matter who you are a President or a manager at McDonalds you have to watch your actions. People will always remember you for something. Don't you want it to be something great?
